Lori Rickert resides in Angleton, Texas with her husband of 27 years, John Ontiveros. She is the mother of two daughters, Alex (24) and Gina (18). She is also the blessed grandmother of Isabella (5). Judge Rickert and her husband attend Brazospointe Fellowship Church where she is a teacher in a kindergarten sunday school class. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoys biking, running, and gardening. Judge Rickert is also a huge Houston Astros and Houston Texans fan.
Judge Rickert began her legal career in the Brazoria County District Attorney's office. Throughout her ten (10) years in the office, she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases, both adult and juvenile. She was also responsible for representing the State in child abuse and neglect cases.
Judge Rickert was elected in 2006 to serve as the County's first presiding judge in the County Court at Law No. 4 and Probate Court. She is still serving in this position. Judge Rickert also presides over the county's DWI Court -- an innovative approach to supervising repeat DWI offenders on probation. County Court at Law No. 4 has jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanors, juvenile cases of all levels, civil cases, family cases, and probate and guardianship cases.
